Cochrane's 2024 Events

Cochrane has the perfect balance of quiet and serene living, pristine Rocky Mountains, the beautiful meandering Bow River, and a friendly engaged community feel as the town has so many vibrant events throughout the year. Below are a few highlights of the many events for residents and visitors of Cochrane to enjoy this year!

March 30 Eggapoolooza at Spray Lake Sawmills Centre A unique twist on the traditional Easter egg hunt, the aquatic centre will offer a fun all ages egg-citing event where the egg hunt happens inside the swimming pool! To find out more about registration, click the event name above.

March 30 Easter Pop-Up Market Bring the whole family out for an Easter Pop-Up Market at the Cochrane Lions Event Centre. Shop and vCochranes-2024-Eventsisit with the local vendors while the kids participate in the Easter Egg hunt, colouring contests, face painting, and a scavenger hunt.

April 6 & 20 Cochrane Farmers’ Spring Market Support local ‘make, bake, and grow’ vendors. These markets are a fantastic way to replenish your pantry, top up your freezer, or find unique handcrafted items for that special gift. Free admission and parking.

April 13 Cochrane Sip Sip Savour Cochrane’s Sip Sip Savour event is a tasting-style event highlighting some of the best breweries, distilleries, and wineries from Cochrane & the Bow Valley area.

May 4 & 5 Cochrane Trade Show The Cochrane Trade Show is the largest annual event in town! This show has something for everyone. There are daily prizes, samples, and so much more!

June 1 Cochrane Pet Expo Have a fun day with all things animals at the Cochrane & District Agricultural Society Park. Fun-goers to this year’s event can expect to wolf down some tasty treats from food trucks, roar in laughter at the exciting roving entertainment, take in learning opportunities, delight in in-person demos, and shake their tail feathers in joy at the family-friendly activities.

June 1 – Sept 28 Market by the Bow Outdoors Farmer’s Market Market by the Bow – enjoy one of the best market experiences in the region every Saturday between 9 am to 2 pm. Support local businesses and vendors while stocking up on the freshest produce, grocery items, baked goods, local items, and gifts.

July 1 Town of Cochrane Canada Day Celebration at Mitford Park Celebrate with the Cochrane community on Saturday, July 1st from Noon - 11:30 pm with tons of family fun, live entertainment, food trucks, Half Hitch beer gardens, and of course, fireworks!

July 19 & 20 Bow Valley Stomp Gather your friends and family, and join us at the Cochrane & District AG Society for a weekend filled with live music, dancing, and good ol’ country fun. Grab your cowboy hat and put on your dancing boots because there will be an incredible lineup of musicians. The festival also features delicious food vendors, ice-cold beverages to quench your thirst, a curated marketplace, games, and more.

July 27 Cochrane Fair Featuring exciting activities and events for all ages, this fair includes food vendors, entertainers & activities, an Indigenous cultural experience with traditional drummers and dancers, a farm alley with live animals, pony rides, mutton busting, trick riders, mini chuckwagon races, jugglers, magicians, live music, family-friendly beer gardens, and so much more!

TBD August Calgary Police Rodeo at Cochrane Rodeo Grounds The highlight of your summer! The Calgary Police Rodeo is a fun-for-all, family-focused celebration of our Western Heritage! Rodeo events include bareback riding, team roping, wild horse race, saddle bronc, break-a-way roping, wild cow milking, ladies barrel racing, chute dogging, bull riding, steer scramble (kids & adults), and mutton bustin'. Kids can enjoy the rodeo with their parents and also have fun at the Kid's Corral, a free carnival featuring Butterfield Acres Petting Zoo, face painting, bouncy castles, pony wagons, and train rides. Dust off your dancing shoes as the afternoon rodeo is followed by the ever-so-popular barn dance in the evening.

August 30 to September 2 Cochrane Lions Rodeo Bring the whole family for this fun local rodeo event which features a pancake breakfast, bull riding, barrel racing, roping competitions, mutton busting, mini broncs, pony racing, tractor toss, food trucks, vendors, as well as a fun Kids Zone.

September 2 Cochrane Labour Day Parade Cochrane’s long-standing tradition kicks off the final day of the Cochrane Lions Rodeo Weekend with a free parade. Bring a lawn chair and get ready for the fun!

TBD - September Cochrane Outhouse Races This traditionally silly, but oh-so-enjoyable annual community event draws spectators from all over Cochrane and surrounding areas. Bring some chairs and spectate this amazing one-of-a-kind race down the streets of Cochrane. Watch a video highlight from 2023’s race here!

TBD - November Cochrane Light Up A family favourite event in Cochrane for many years, this one spectacular night event connects businesses and organizations with the community. This event includes a light show that remains lit & active night in December and a grand finale that concludes the evening with a bang that will be sure to please! Stay posted for more details regarding 2024’s event as it is sure to be a heart-warming event for all to attend.

December 14 & 15 Cochrane Christmas Farmers’ Market A two-day event hosted at the SLS Centre, you will find many of your favourite vendors from the summer market plus many more seasonal artisans selected to make this a “must-attend” event. Farmers’ markets are a great way to shop & support local while you take care of your holiday shopping with an exciting lineup of ‘make, bake and grow’ vendors – you’ll find unique handcrafted gifts and décor as well as be able to fill your holiday pantry with a wide range of items from our producers, food artisans & beverage vendors. Admission and parking are both free of charge.

December 31 Cochrane New Year’s Eve Family Celebration An annual free family event with indoor and outdoor activities for all ages, which ends the evening with fireworks to be enjoyed by all. Details for 2024’s event to come.
