Less than a 20-minute drive from Cochrane is Ghost Lake which spans over 11.5 kilometers. With a marina and boat launches, it is the ideal backdrop of water and mountain vistas for sailing, yachting, powerboating, fishing, water skiing, wakeboarding, paddle boarding, and seadoing. A campground is conveniently located at Ghost Lake for RV and tent camping and is situated on the water’s edge so that you can rest and relax between the hours of fun.

In winter, parts of Ghost Lake turn into a 10-kilometre ice track where drivers can try their hand at drifting with their cars, ATVs, and dirt bikes. On quieter days, the lake is perfect for peaceful winter ice fishing.

Big Hill Springs Provincial Park, known for its gentle inclines and small spring waterfalls, is a picturesque location for families with young children. Less than a 20-minute drive from Cochrane and nestled in the foothills of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, Big Hill Springs offers a relaxed trail and a canopy of trees to accompany an enjoyable hike. Pack a lunch to bring with you, as you are sure to enjoy your time at this Provincial Park.

Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park is also just a short drive away from Cochrane and is popular with residents from all over Alberta. With sprawling hills and beautiful views, this is the perfect place to spend an afternoon with your family enjoying the outdoors. With multiple children’s summer camps, this is sure to be a popular summer destination for residents of Cochrane.
